Scott Gilmour

Scott brings an array of skills to the team, gained by working in the insurance, legal, and construction fields prior to joining APEX. Scott earned a law degree from the University of Manitoba and was called to the Ontario bar in 2010. Prior to being a founding Partner of APEX, he specialized in creating risk solutions for contractors and construction projects in his role as casualty underwriter at a Lloyd’s of London insurance syndicate, spending over five years in their Toronto and London offices. Scott was named to the ‘Insurance Young Guns’ list by Insurance Business Canada in 2018 as one of the top performers in the industry under the age of 35.
Before his time in insurance, Scott practised corporate and securities law at a global law firm in Toronto. He later gained direct construction experience, managing Canada’s largest roofing service division and project managing a large roofing project at a northern mine.
Scott moved back to his hometown of Winnipeg and brings a passion for customizing solutions to complex risk management issues. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, cars, sports, and time at the lake.
